The Year Past, and the Years to Come |
|||
|
The year which passed, has been recorded in the history of social and economic development of the world as a decisive turning point; a turning point that comparing to the historical events such as WW I and WW II, has been considerably more important. This is an event coincided with the commencing years of the IT revolution, and it is said that it will not only influence and transform every aspect of the human life, from life style to travelling and leisure, but also with the economic globalisation as a result of the global economic evolution, together with the international stock markets' fluctuation which will lead to a purification of the capitalism from within, every one involved in economic activities will be called upon to have a presence in the global competitive market. To succeed in this market, it requires special qualifications, which will lead to a geographical relocation of the production centres, and a relative growth in the production of goods, with an eye towards low-income and emerging regions. Considering its vast natural resources, especially energy, large population, and low per-capita income, the South-western and Central Asia, with Iran as its centre, can fulfil its place in the world economy as one of the emerging goods and services production centres, a fact that requires large-scale economic cooperation between Iran and advanced industrial countries. Nevertheless, the year that passed, despite issues and problems encountered by the chamber, as well as on the way of the expansion of trade relations between the two countries, including cooperation between Iranian and British companies, saw a remarkable progress in the exchange of trade missions, a development which is expected to continue to grow. The liberation of Afghanistan from the suppressing Taliban regime, and holding of seminars in Tehran and London to study the potential cooperation grounds for the reconstruction of Afghanistan, once again revealed the special geo-economic place Iran enjoys in the region. Without any doubt, in the current year, as well as the years to come, we should actively take part in bringing peace and tranquillity to the region, in order to exploit the best out of Iran's unique place and opportunities: a fact that requires even closer cooperation between the two joint chambers of commerce in Tehran and London, and strengthening of the two from one side, and exchange of trade missions and trade information required by the respective businesspersons, as well as more help by the two respective governments , and "mother" chambers of commerce - namely Iran Chamber of Commerce and the British Chamber of Commerce - by providing the necessary financial, administrative, and technical assistance, from the other.
